Transportation Department Invests in Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Projects

99 local construction projects funded to improve road use for all.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced grant awards totaling over $63 million for road safety projects throughout the country. Pedestrians and cyclists account for many of the fatalities that occur on roadways and, according to the DOT, those rates have increased significantly over the past two years. This grant funding will be distributed to 99 communities to address local roads and intersections that have been identified as the most dangerous to those occupying them outside of a vehicle.

“Thanks to our Safe Streets for All grants, communities across the country are improving their roads so they can be safely shared by bikes, cars, and pedestrians, and this latest round of funding will make it possible for 99 communities to implement roadway safety measures that help save more lives,” said Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg to seek God’s wisdom as he heads the Transportation Department.
  • For U.S. transportation officials to be discerning as they award taxpayer funds to road safety projects.
